Product Issues

My jerky is really dry. Is that normal?

Our jerky is definitely on the drier-side of the spectrum if you’ve ordered EXTRA WELLDONE”.

We employ an old-school style of jerky making. This means we do not use any artificial ingredients or overly process our jerky into submission. Rather, we dry our jerky a bit more than other companies. This keeps the jerky as natural as possible. We don't lean on fancy machinery, artificial ingredients, tricks or shortcuts. It might not be the easy way, but it's the right way. You'll never find two pieces that look exactly the same, and this is how we like it. It's the reason our jerky tastes like it was made in your kitchen, not in a factory. We believe jerky with a little variability between each piece is a good thing. It celebrates the all-natural, unprocessed nature of real food.

With that said, the jerky shouldn't be too tough or dry! We like to treat our customers like family and we're here to help.

My jerky has white spots on it. What is that?

White material can be a variety of things including mold, fat, or grease.

While we try to maintain our jerky as lean as possible, because we use all-natural meat, there is some variance in the fat content of each piece. During the packaging process, when the product is packed air-tight, it pulls some of the natural fat content onto the exterior surface. This is a completely normal occurrence and does happen from time to time. The product is completely safe to eat.

My jerky is really fatty. What can I do?

Rest assured, we are here to help.

To give you a little context, we employ an old-fashioned style of jerky making which means that we keep it as natural as possible. This can lead to some batches retaining a little more fat than others. With that said, there shouldn't be too much fat.

Have a photo handy and reach out to our customer service team. We would be more than happy to help you.

My jerky arrived damaged (ripped, hole in bag, unsealed). What can I do?

That's certainly not good! We're sorry to hear your package has been damaged. Rest assured, we are here to help! Please have a picture handy, this will help us determine if it was damaged in transit or if there was something wrong with the actual package.

I found mold in my bag. What do I do?

Oh no! Mold is gross, no doubt about it.

The occurrence of mold is one of the potential drawbacks of a preservative-free product. The presence of one slightly undried piece can lead to the spoilage of an entire bag. In no way does this have anything to do with the quality of the meat as we use nothing but the most natural ingredients. Just an unfortunate occurrence from time to time.

Please email our call our customer service team with your email, order number, and spoiled product and we'll take care of you right away. If you can take photos that is extra helpful.

How can I add a product to my recurring order subscription?

You can easily add new products to your existing recurring subscription. Follow the following easy steps.

1. Log into your account.
2. Visit the product page of the product that you would like to add to your existing subscription.
3. Add the product to your existing subscription in red.

How do I create a recurring order?

We're glad you asked. The recurring order feature is a great way to make sure you get a regular shipment of the best damn jerky on the planet. Plus, you save 5% on every order.

The process to create a recurring order is very similar to a normal order. The only difference is selecting the box for Recurring Order & Save on the product page. Feel free to build a cart full of different products.

Rewards

Where can I find my rewards discount code?

When you redeem rewards for a discount code, a window will pop up with your unique code. You will also receive an automatic email with the code. Make sure to copy and paste the code to use at checkout.

Additionally, you can view your full rewards history with discounts codes by logging into your account and visiting the rewards page. Click Rewards History to view your full history and coupon codes.

How do I send a free jerky gram?

As a Rare Tier member and perk, you have the ability to send a free People’s Jerky Gram to anyone. Once you reach the Rare Tier, we will send you a unique code via email for 100% off a People's Jerky Gram. All you have to do is add a People’s Gram to your cart AND apply the unique code to redeem.

If you have any issues or never received the email with the code, don't hesitate to reach out.

My coupon code is not working. What can I do?

Well, that is not good. We're here to help. Here are a few common issues to try before reaching out for help.

The code has to be copied exactly as given. This includes spaces, dashes, numbers, capital, etc. At this time, only one coupon code can be used at a time. Most coupon codes can only be used once per customer. If the coupon code is for a free bag, you must add the bag to your cart before checkout for the savings to appear.

I redeemed the wrong code. What can I do?

Don't worry! We can help, just contact our customer service team and we'll gladly help you out.

Can you combine multiple reward codes?

Unfortunately, our system does not allow for multiple codes to be used at checkout, but the points don't expire so you can use a redeemed code for another purchase!

My review points aren't showing in my account?

Did you leave a review but your rewards points aren't showing up in your account? There are a few reasons this can happen, but rest assured we'll make sure you get your points.

How do I sign up for the rewards program?

Do you offer birthday rewards?

Yes, we do!

When you sign up for the rewards program, make sure to include your birthday! If you happen to bypass that, don't panic! Just send us an email and we'll be more than happy to add your birthday to your profile.

How can I change my email?

Feel free to contact our customer service team and we can take care of you. Make sure to include your current email address and the desired new email address.

I am unable to log into my account. What can I do?

No worries, we're here to help! There are a couple things that might be happening when you are unable to your account.

Even if you've placed an order before and signed up for our marketing emails, you still need to create an account on our website. Make sure to create the account with the email associated with your order. This way all of your order information and loyalty points are saved.

You can click here to create an account: If you've created an account on the page above and are still having issues logging in, you can use the "lost your password" link to reset your password. An email will be sent to your email with the ability to update your password. Make sure to check your spam folder as sometimes the auto email can be blocked.

How can I change my password?

It's super easy.

Visit the account page page and hit "Forgot Password."

An automatic email will be sent to your email to reset the password. Remember to check your spam folder when you're waiting for your password link, it will sometimes go straight to spam!

I forgot to use a discount code on my order. What can I do?

Discount codes never expire, so feel free to save for your next order. If you have a special need or request don't hesitate to reach out.

My discount code isn't working. What can I do?

You may have redeemed from the wrong tab, go ahead and contact our customer service team and they'll gladly help you out!

How can I add a gift message to my order?

On the cart drawer page, there will be a line that reads "Add a gift note." Insert your gift message here and we will include this in the order. Additionally, when a gift note is added to the order no pricing will be included in the order.

Where can I buy your jerky?

We have expanded a bit on where you can purchase our jerky, as you can see most customers love online shopping and that is why we've made it accessible for everyone. If you do happen to purchase through our website, we do have a reward system you can take advantage of and save an extra 5% for having a subscription.

Now if you happen to live or are stopping by LA we are open to the public on weekdays from 6:00 AM-2:30 PM.

I received the wrong items. What can I do?

We apologize, mistakes do happen from time to time. If you receive the wrong items, take a picture of your items and packing slip and email them to our customer service team and we'll get right on it!

Do you offer military discounts?

At this time, we do not offer any military discounts. We do offer discounts every once in a while via our email list. Be sure to sign-up to receive emails on our website.

Do you offer free shipping?

We offer free shipping to orders $85 and over. Remember if your order is $85 and you add a coupon that brings it lower than the free shipping requirement, it'll automatically add the shipping cost.

How do I cancel my order?

If your order has not been processed to ship yet, send us an email and we'll be happy to cancel your order.

If your order has been shipped, unfortunately, we are unable to cancel the order. You would need to wait to receive the package and then send it back to:

Shipping

I put the wrong shipping address on my order. What can I do?

Oh no! Mistakes happen and we're here to help.

Please contact us as soon as possible so we can prevent the order from shipping out.

Unfortunately, if your order has already been shipped, there's no way we can recall the package. Hopefully, the item will be return to send in which case we can issue a refund.

My package appears to be lost. What can I do?

Oh no! If the carrier has lost your package feel free to contact us. We'll be more than happy to help you out.

My package was stolen. What can I do?

Porch pirates are a thing now and we understand the frustration. If you caught someone stealing your package, please reach out to our customer service team and we will take care of you.

My package was damaged during transit. What can I do?

Every once in a while, a package will be damaged during transit. No worries, we're here to help! Please send an email with a picture of the damaged package and we'll take care of you!

Can I pick up my order?

This means you're a local, willing to make the drive, or you just happened to have stumbled upon us! Which are all great!

Where is my order?

We apologize your order is taking longer than usual, orders are typically processed in 1-2 business days (the majority of orders within 1 business day). If the order is placed on a Friday, your order may not ship until Monday. If the order is placed on a weekend or holiday, the order will ship the next business day.

You should have received a confirmation email with your order information and tracking number. Make sure to check your spam folder. If you still haven't received anything, please email us and we'll take care of it.

Return Policy

No longer want the jerky?

We are more more than happy to issue a refund on any unopened orders that are returned to the address listed below. Please include the packing slip and request for refund detailed inside.

We will issue the refund immediately upon receipt and the funds usually return within 3-5 business days.

Standard Shipping: 1-10 business days - We charge a $7.50 flat rate cost on all standard orders under $85 no matter what size. Free standard shipping on all orders $85 or more unless a different shipping method is selected at checkout.

How long does it take to get my order?

We work hard to get the jerky to our customers as quickly as possible. Orders are typically processed in 1-2 business days (the majority of orders within 1 business day). If the order is placed on a Friday, your order may not ship until Monday. If the order is placed on a weekend or holiday, the order will ship the next business day. **Note: During peak periods (ie. Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas Season) orders may take 2-4 business days to ship out.

Why are shipping costs so high?

Ugh. Shipping. Such a drag, we know, but how convenient to have it delivered right to your front door or work place.

We charge a small shipping fee as a way to offset our shipping costs which are normally well above the $5. This way we can keep our prices on the jerky as competitive as possible.

Help! My package never arrived.

Don't worry, we're here to help. If your package was marked as delivered but never turned up there's most likely a few reasons.

Sometimes the USPS/UPS will update the tracking as delivered when in fact they haven't dropped it off yet. We recommend giving it 3 days time. If nothing shows up after 3 days, reach back out and we'll either send a replacement or issue a refund. Maybe someone else in your household or maybe a neighbor received it?If you happen to come across your USPS person, you can always ask them as well.

If none of these options work, feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to find the missing jerky!

Do you ship internationally?

We love that we’re getting more and more attention from places beyond our neighborhood here in Downtown Los Angeles. At this time, we only ship to the United States and U.S. territories, military addresses (FPO/APO/DPO), and Canada.

Where can I find the Big Slab jerky?

The Big Slab jerky is part of our Classic line. You can view all three flavors by clicking here. Make sure to select Big Slab Bag (15-CT) to get the slabs of jerky.

Do you use grass-fed beef?

At this time we do not use grass-fed beef. That being said, we source all our beef in the USA from highly-selective, small ranchers.

We exclusively partner with suppliers that share our core philosophy: doing the right thing can be beneficial to all and helps customers and communities thrive in a safe, responsible, and sustainable way. This includes requiring all beef suppliers to meet the following quality standards: demonstrate a real and accountable commitment to animal care and handling; uphold the highest of food safety standards to deliver a wholesome product, no corners cut; and a commitment to the long-term sustainability of both the food chain and the environment.

Our Old Fashioned, Carne Seca, and Tasting Kitchen lines all come from 100% Angus Beef throughout the Midwest. The Angus beef has excellent marbling adding a richer flavor profile to the meat.

Our Classic line comes from beef sourced in California and is a generally leaner cut for our famous "Big Slabs."

What is the shelf life of your jerky?

Our jerky can last up to a year from when it was made. You can check this date on the back of the bag near the bottom, where there is a sell by date.

Opening the jerky will not affect sell by date. Our bags are resealable, make sure to remove as much air from the bag so your jerky doesn't dry up. You can learn more about how to store your jerky by clicking here.

Does your jerky need to be refrigerated?

Nope! Our jerky is 100% shelf-stable in a cool, ambient environment. It does not require any special handling or refrigeration. The best way to maintain freshness of the jerky is to keep it in an air-tight bag.

Are your products gluten free?

What's the difference between our Classic and Old Fashioned Line?

Why is the Old Fashioned Line drier than the Classic line?

By definition, the “Old Fashioned” jerky is a drier, tougher-style jerky. It’s actually inspired by recipes and a handmade process that dates back to the 1920s. Additionally, there are a couple reasons for the drier texture.

There is no added sugar, corn syrups, or artificial ingredients that are often used to soften more commercial style jerky.

Secondly, we employ a traditional, handmade process that dries the jerky to a level that doesn’t need preservatives or nitrates to keep it shelf stable.

Lastly and more importantly we have a lot of customers that love that extra dry style.

How can I leave a review?

We love to hear what you have to say (but only if it's good, jk). There are two different ways to leave a review.

Option #1

An automatic email is generated after each purchase which will allow you to leave a review on the products that you purchased. Your review when submitted through the email will automatically add rewards points to your account.

Option #2

You can also visit the product page on our website and scroll down to the review section where you can leave a review directly on the product page. If you submit a review this way, please email our customer service so we can manually add rewards points to your account. Limit one review per product.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate tour requests at this time, but you are more than welcome to stop by to see the operation. I'm sure someone will let you peek your head in. Plus, you can purchase fresh batches of jerky!

Do you offer free samples?

Try before you buy, right? We wish we could offer free samples because we're confident that once you try our jerky, you'll be hooked.

Unfortunately, free samples can be costly for a small business and our goal is maintain our prices as low as possible. Our 2.5 OZ bags are a great way to try small quantities of different flavors before ordering the larger sizes.

We also have the "One of Everything" Jerky Box which is a great way to sample a little bit of everything.

Do you donate products to charities or fundraisers?

What's the best way to store my jerky?

Our jerky is 100% shelf-stable meaning it requires no refrigeration once opened. The best way to keep your jerky tasting fresh is to store it in an air-tight bag. The jerky will tend to dry out gradually as it becomes exposed to air, but it will remain 100% safe to consume.
